Description
Arbors/Adapters: Used to attach the holesaw to the drill. They have a threaded end that screws into the holesaw and a shank that fits into the drill chuck. The size of the arbor needs to match the thread on the holesaw and the capacity of the drill chuck. Many arbors also come with a pilot drill.
Pilot Drills: These smaller drills guide the holesaw to keep it centered during the drilling process. They’re often made from high-speed steel for durability. The size of the pilot drill should match the hole in the arbor. For sheet metal work, pilot drills may often have a spring for automatic slug ejection.
Ejection Springs: If not built into the arbor or pilot drill, ejection springs help remove the plug of material that is cut out by the holesaw. This is especially useful when working with sheet metal as it prevents having to manually remove the cut plug.
Drill Stoppers: These are rings that can be adjusted along the length of the pilot drill to control the depth of the hole being cut. They’re particularly useful when you need to make sure the holesaw doesn’t cut through a material entirely.
Replacement Pilot Drills: Keeping spare pilot drills on hand can be beneficial, as they can dull or break over time.
Hex Key/Allen Wrench: This tool is used to secure the holesaw or pilot drill to the arbor. This may come included with the arbor or may need to be sourced separately.
